ABOUT US

TOUCH a Community Foundation was founded by two Kenyans and an American.  It's located in Kongoni, Kenya, an hour and fifteen minutes northwest of Eldoret in the Rift Valley.

OUR MISSION

Through love and education, TOUCH empowers widows and children to create life-changing hope and sustainability in their communities.

Evangelism

Pastor Joseph Barasa Wabomba leads the evangelism ministry for TOUCH.  Joseph is married to Mary and has 7 children: Ann, Fosca, Juliette, Caron, Marion, and twins, Godwill and Dickens.  Joseph graduated from Northwestern Seminary in Soy with his Masters degree in theology in November 2016.

 

Joseph is the head pastor at Grace Church in Makutano.  Joseph feels that he is blessed with the gift of church planting.  He started a church in Kongoni on July 17, 2016.

 

Joseph feels that his biggest challenge is seeing someone in need and not being able to act. He wants to be there to escort members of the church in difficult times.  He will sit down with Mary and talk about ways they can help and then act.

In his free time, Joseph enjoys socializing with the community.

Education

Isaac Kokonya, "Mapesa," leads education for TOUCH. Mapesa has 3 brothers and 1 sister.  He was raised by his grandmother in Kongoni.

​

Mapesa has a diploma in conflict and disaster management, and in early childhood development.  We are excited that Mapesa has been accepted into Moi University to attain his Bachelor's Degree in Education.  He will graduate in December 2019.

​

He enjoys teaching because it gives him joy to see a struggling student do well.

​

He feels that the two biggest challenges to education are:

1.  the culture doesn't see the value

2.  poverty-children should be able to go to a quality school, but they can't afford it.

​

Mapesa wants people to know that he believes in learning.
